This is an old theater located in Iizuka City, two towns over from Fukuoka City. It is a venue for popular theater performances, somewhat similar to well-known Kabuki, with a very traditional atmosphere. It used to be privately operated, but some time ago it was taken over by the public sector and is currently in the process of being revitalized.

In Sasaguri, a neighboring town of Fukuoka City, there is a reclining Great Buddha statue. It is located at a temple called Nanzoin. Even those who are not Buddhists can enjoy this impressive sightseeing spot. The temple has many other attractions besides the Great Buddha, so it’s definitely worth a visit. If you’re wearing shorts above the knee, you will be asked to cover your legs.
